Do you know The Berenstain Bears? It’s a popular children’s book about a bear family. There’s Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Brother Bear, Sister Bear and eventually baby Honey Bear. I love it because it talks about everyday issues that a child or a family may encounter and it teaches moral values. Well, in this Berenstain Bears Book “Mama’s New Job”, Mama bear opens her own quilt shop! As a quilter (quite new, just 2 years old), I found it fascinating! All the different colors and patterns of the fabric are such eye candy to me. I’m always like a child in a candy store when I’m in the quilt/fabric store. It brings beauty in my world and makes me happy. So do I dare to dream that I can be like Mama Bear? Maybe a little bit. I watched everything art and fabric related on creativebug.com (they have fabulous online classes for a small subscription fee), and I started doodling a little. I look at online fabric store and read their stories and I wonder if I can also add fabric to my little etsy handmade shop. I keep making because I want to make, and I need to make and to hone my skills. I know I still have a long way to go. I want to and need to learn to draw better, to find my own voice and style. I want to learn more about colors, develop an eye for patterns, learning to gauge the market and make good selection of fabrics to ensure the success of my “future” adventure…etc. There are so much I want to do, but I also know that it’s a marathon and not a sprint. I still have a family to look after and home to take care of. It’s quite a long journey but it’s also very very exciting!
smile, Eunice
